CAT INFORMATION
CAT ROLES & DUTIES | |
Cats are structured and work differently than the other teams in Kyriakos. They have a larger number of team members, capping at twelve, and their patron is the Queen. Being patroned to the Queen also puts them under co-patronage of Princess, and in the event that an Echo overpowers the Queen and takes over controlling the realm (such as what occurred with Nyssa), that Echo would be in a patron position to the team as well. Cats are obliged (though not supernaturally compelled!) to follow any order given to them by their patron(s). Disobedience, disrespect, or abuse of power may be met with punishment. What the punishment entails depends upon the nature and the severity of the infraction. It could be anything from the revocation of the privileges, to public service, or even to time spent locked away in the dungeons. Said punishment, of course, is at the discretion of the patron(s) they answer to and their own personal preference in doing so. Also, in the same vein as team patrons, completing tasks and keeping their patron powered can allow them to modify and personalize their own private rooms. As the Cats are connected to who controls the realm, their primary on-going duties are: to put a stop to PvP outside of the games if they occur, and to assist people to games if they want to attend but are hampered by injury or status effect. Completing these duties and more (quests, minigames) can earn them a memory shard back. See our Cat memory request post! The Cats' role in games vary, depending on the gamerunner and the mechanics of game being run. Sometimes Cats will simply play as their own team, together. Otherwise, Cats can be spread out to help different teams (OOCly, something occasionally used if a team only has one or two members signed up) and awarded memories individually if the team they are paired with wins. Sometimes, Cats will be a mechanic of a game itself, upon IC request, though some Echoes may not ICly ask for permission to stick them somewhere (always can be opted-out of OOCly). If a Cat is aiding an Echo in any way for a game, there will be consequences for attempted cheating or sabotage, which will be left up to the gamerunning Echo's discretion. No two of these examples will ever happen together in a single game. Meaning that a game structured to use Cats as a mechanic for example, will not have sign ups for other Cats to play as a team. And a game where Cats are playing together as a team will not have any Cats separated to join the other teams. |
PENDANTS | |
Upon arrival, all Cats will find a pendant bearing a small, golden gemstone in their rooms. This pendant grants them one of the following seven special abilities. Heal: Only applies to out-of-game injuries. Allows the Cats to heal any minor injuries that characters obtain, or slow bleeding enough to get a quest for larger ones. Time: Slow, Haste, and Stop! Wears off after anywhere between thirty seconds and five minutes. Space: Mid-range teleportation. Only one person (themselves or another) can be moved at any one time. The Cat doesn't have to be able to see the area they’re teleporting to, but they do have to be able to picture it clearly. Paralysis: Paralysis lasts between thirty seconds and five minutes, and can affect anything from individual limbs or digits to the whole body. Organs cannot be paralyzed. Sleep: Can knock the target into a light doze, or render them so unconscious a foghorn wouldn't wake them. Can theoretically last for up to two hours. Shield: Shields can last up to ten minutes. The larger and stronger they are, the less time they'll last. MP Drain: Pulls the plug on the target's own magical reserves. Each cast can deplete a maximum of 50%, and takes about twenty seconds. Cats can only use one spell at a time, but can swap between the different abilities by concentrating hard for at least one IC minute. If something happens to break that concentration, the swap will fail. There is a limit of ten casts per day. The tenth cast will be exhausting, and trying to exceed this limit will both fail and result in the Cat knocking themselves out. Switching to a new power won't cost anything, but it also won't grant them additional casts. All Cats have the same level of power with regards to this magic, regardless of their canon. The strength/duration of the spell is completely reliant on how much energy and focus the user puts into it, and proficiency comes with practice. |
QUESTS | |
Offering characters quests is something that the Cats can do to win back a single memory shard for themselves. Please keep in mind that Cats are limited to offering quests for small items only. What counts as small? More mundane things, and only items that do not possess any magical ability. In terms of weapons, a small dagger would be fine whereas a larger sword would need an Echo quest. In terms of pets, a small kitten could be quested for, but not a Pokemon. Cats can also get a character items from their home. Please see the quest guidelines & requests for more information, and if you'd like to either pick up someone's request or offer your own! There is a small room around the size of a supply closet, tucked away between the bathroom and the kitchen in the Cat dormitory. Only the Queen, the Princess, and the Cats themselves may enter; any others will find themselves being repelled by a forcefield. This room grants Cats very limited Echo-like abilities. Once a quest has been completed, Cats use this room to help them "pull" the prizes into existence. This can only happen after the completion of the quest! Any attempts to prematurely give out prizes will be met with... absolutely nothing happening; a quest being too small for the intended prize will also be met with a resounding nothing. |
MINIGAMES | |
Cats may hold small-scale "games" that award items as prizes! As Cats do not have their own realms like Echoes, they may host minigames themselves somewhere in Kyriakos! They can find supplies for this inside a closet in the Cat dormitory, whether these supplies are a circus tent or fifty human cannons. After the mini game, all supplies must be returned - any that aren't will fade away after a few minutes. It's up to the Cat's discretion how to judge winner(s) for their mini games, as well as how many prizes they wish to offer. Please keep in mind that as these are minigames, there should be a sense of competition to them, so prizes should be limited! Cat players can craft their own small games if they have an idea, or simply run IC versions of games a player can link online. For example, a Cat can run a Flappy Bird minigame, so all the runner has to do is link the flash game and explain the rules, top three scores will win a prize, turn-in a screenshot of your score by a certain time. ICly, Flappy Bird can be set up by a Cat borrowing computers from the supply closet to play it that way, or even make it a realty by setting up an obstacle course of pipes and requiring players to jump through them. The end result will still be the same, so as a minigame runner, you can get creative with how you want to present one. Finally, minigames do not need to be claimed nor need mod permission to be run. Cats may host a minigame on any game-free day. There aren't any strict rules for spacing, just try to not crowd things if it can be avoided. |
AN IC GUIDE | |
There is a large, prominent poster on one of the Common Room Walls. It reads: Your primary duty is to uphold the system that allows the reconstruction of souls and worlds. As such, you shall have flexibility in your judgment, however the rules listed here shall be treated as immutable and must be obeyed;Tacked next to the poster is this. |
