ECHO & PATRON INFORMATION

OVERVIEW
The NPCs of Kyriakos are known as Echoes. They run games, mini-events, mingle posts, and they are how characters will regain their memories!

Much like the characters in Kyriakos, Echoes have had their souls shattered and aside from one, singular memory, they remember nothing. They are individuals that have managed to hold onto part of their world through some kind of method. Belief? Power? Who knows. It's a mystery as of this moment. Sometimes, in-game events will pop up, allowing for Echoes to regain more of their memories, though these are rare.

Unlike the PCs of Kyriakos, Echoes have supernatural powers to make up for their inability to easily regain memories. They use these powers to run games, give out memories and quests, and simply continue to exist. They can also see a team character's memory by simply being handed a shard. However, they cannot temporarily gain skills from skill shards.

All Echoes are individuals with their own set of themes, abilities, and personalities. The only thing that they have in common is that they need power and that they need the PCs in order to ultimately survive.

GAMES & POSTS
GAMES
The main role of an Echo is to run games for the teams in Kyriakos, and reward the winners memory shards. Teams playing in an Echo's game gives that Echo power - part of which is used to create the memory shards for the winners. It's a mutually beneficial situation as characters can work on restoring their worlds, and Echoes can keep their energy levels up to continue existing in Kyriakos.

Please see our games & game running page for more information about running games with your Echo.

MINIGAMES
Echoes may hold small-scale "games" that award items as prizes!

Echoes can supply items for these minigames using their own power, whether these supplies are a circus tent or fifty human cannons. After the mini-game, all supplies will fade away after a few minutes.

It's up to the Echo's discretion how to judge winner(s) for their mini games, as well as how many prizes they wish to offer. Please keep in mind that as these are minigames, there should be a sense of competition to them, so prizes should be limited!

Echo players can craft their own minigames if they have an idea, or simply run IC versions of games a player can link online. For example, an Echo can run a Flappy Bird minigame, so all the runner has to do is link the flash game and explain the rules, top three scores will win a prize, turn-in a screenshot of your score by a certain time. ICly, Flappy Bird can be set up by an Echo setting up computers to play it that way, or even make it a realty by setting up an obstacle course of pipes and requiring players to jump through them. The end result will still be the same, so as a minigame runner, you can get creative with how you want to present one.

Finally, minigames do not need to be claimed nor need mod permission to be run. Echoes may host a minigame on any game-free day. There aren't any strict rules for spacing, just try to not crowd things if it can be avoided.

POSTS
Echoes have as much free reign to post and tag out to others as everybody else does. Echoes thrive on characters knowing them and thinking about them, and can weaken if they make no connections, potentially to the point of returning to non-existence.

The content of said posts is up to player discretion. Be it if they'd like their Echo to simply ask others questions, or even if they'd like to use the Echo's magic to give a post a themed mingle twist. We'd only like to ask you save any trauma-like things for gamerunning. Though like always, if you have an interesting idea or any questions, never hesitate to e-mail the mods at kyriakosmods@gmail.com!

QUESTS
Echoes can offer quests for a variety of goods and services, big and small, whether a character needs clothes, food, toys, weapons, magic, or less mundane things such as healing or magical augmentation. Healing quests must always come from your team's patron Echo or, if the injury was due to a game, from the Echo who ran it. Please see the quest guidelines & requests post for more information and if you'd like to pick up someone's request, or make one yourself!

While quests can be tailored to certain characters, please keep your Echo's personality in mind and remember their quests can have certain themes and flairs that reflect them!

PATRONS
Patron Echoes have all of the abilities and opportunities as described above. But in addition to that, patrons are connected to one of the many teams in Kyriakos. A patron can use their power to easily alter, add and subtract things to and from a team's dorm (with quests, of course). Likewise, teams winning games also give their patron power enough to provide them food and supplies. Patron Echoes can only be patroned to one team, though a single team can have more than one patron Echo.

While patrons have obvious power in the relationship, a team/patron bond is an agreement that can be broken at any time, from either side. A patron can use their power to enforce rules for how they want the team to act if that is what they want! An Echo that wants their team to be ruthless might not like a team that wins through the power of friendship and love and they can react accordingly by giving their team a food they dislike or by making them smell like the town drunkard. Of course, as it only takes a simple choice on the team's part to sever a patron link with an Echo, a team that won't tolerate cruelty might not want a cruel patron! If the Echo does like how their team acts, however, they could totally reward them with a special treat after winning enough games.

In the case that a team does want to break off a patron deal with a patron due to the fact that they don't get along, it's entirely possible to do so! As long as one side wants to get rid of the deal, it can be broken and the team can be rendered patronless. Similarly, if a patron drops, their team is also rendered patronless. A patronless team will not get supplied with food and supplies without a patron, so will either have to hunt or search on their own, or take rather large/long quests from other Echoes. If they decide that they want another patron, they can go out and find one! Everyone is required to agree about the patroning - including the patron themselves. If a team and patron break off ties, or if a team gets a new patron, please contact the mods at kyriakosmods@gmail.com so we can keep things updated.

Please ensure all parties are in OOC agreement before taking on a new patron.
