RULES
SHOW RESPECT | |
The most important rule in any game: be kind to your fellow players and moderators! Godmodiung, infomodding and generally running over other players' comfort zones knowingly will not be tolerated. We're all in this hobby to enjoy ourselves, so if there are any disagreements, confusion about something or concerns, please try to talk things out between each other! We understand that feelings can sometimes run high OOCly when a particularly stressful or tense IC situation arises. It's easy for what you mean to say to get lost in text and people can begin to feel badly. In those kinds of cases please be sure to treat everything with care to find a happy medium for everyone! The commentary that comes with high tension events can be fun, but please be aware of yourselves and everyone around you. There is an IC/OOC division that needs to be respected. If anyone is breaking this rule or making you feel uncomfortable, please email the mods and we'll do our best to help you out with the situation! |
BE CONSIDERATE | |
Please be considerate of other players in the game. For example, if your thread begins to head into NC-17 territory, please fade-to-black and move it to a journal post if you want to play it out. The same thing goes for graphic violence (i.e. torture) that is taking place outside of a game (as games featuring graphic elements will always have appropriate warnings). Player comfort is extremely important! If you see anything that isn't marked clearly and makes you uncomfortable, let the player know! Or, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, contact the mods and we will handle it for you. Please use your judgement for these kinds of things on when you should take them to a journal! We trust you guys to know when the right time to move something is. |
PLAN YOUR CHARACTER | |
This is a game where dark themes will exist, and there will be some very traumatic games and events! Use your judgement, because not all characters are meant for a game where it's possible that characters may have to choose to kill each other for a memory or a skill. So Pure Angelic Child Who Would Break might not be the best choice for a character to pick up. Nor might Murderous McVillain Who Listens To Nobody if they're on a team where they're supposed to work together. Please consider not only what would be fun to play for you, but how your character would affect others as well as their team dynamic! Basically, keep the tone of the game in mind when planning your app. Certain character types are harder for us to place than others and they may be in the queue for a very long time! |
CHARACTER AWARENESS | |
Please be aware of your character's limits in the game! The powercap aside, they essentially enter Kyriakos with no skills whatsoever. However, if your character is for example, Muscly Fighter, and thus naturally buff, sure they will have a slightly better natural strength than their scrawnier counterparts without additional skills shards. But with no skills, they probably won't know what to do if they got into a fight, so wouldn't do too well despite this. Basically, please don't use skills your characters haven't earned back, or skills that are not in their mirror at the time. To elaborate on that last note, while skillsharing is allowed in our mechanics, please keep in mind that when the skill is used by someone that is not the owner, the power of the skill will not be as strong. The character "borrowing" the skill will gain all of the knowledge necessary to use it and will be able to do so, but they absolutely will not be anywhere near as strong as the actual owner. And if your character is the one loaning their skill shard, they cannot use that skill while the skill shard is out of their mirror and in somebody else's. |
STAY IN CHARACTER | |
We realize that memory arcs can take your characters in wildly different directions than what could happen in canon, but don't use it as an excuse to make your character so different that they aren't recognizable as the character they're supposed to be. If Shoujobunny won't naturally become a Murderbunny, don't force Murderbunny to happen anyway! If you're looking to play a certain type of character, perhaps consider one closer to what you're looking for. If you ever have deep concerns about another player's characterization, we'd like you to first either speak to the player, or seek out any HMD they might have - and please keep your concerns civil! But the mods are always available if you need to contact them about this. |
BE ACTIVE | |
Please be active! Kyriakos is a game with a set cap due to the team mechanic, which means people in the queue could be waiting for a while to be placed. This means that we do need to see good activity from the characters that are in the game currently! To read about the specifics for team activity, Cat activity and patron activity, please look at our activity guidelines. We have a monthly activity check which requires all members of the game to check in. We reserve the right to contact you if you're turning in a very minimal amount of activity, and to ask for more activity if we see consistent, low activity. If we need to talk to you twice in two months, you will receive an activity strike. Receiving two strikes in a three month period, regardless of whether or not they're consecutive, will result in your character being idled, and you will be unable to reapply for that specific character for two months unless there was an exceptional circumstance. |
APPS AND DROPS | |
In Kyriakos there is a three character limit for team characters. Please keep in mind that they all have to be on different teams, and most gamerunners will require sign-ups to include a note if you are playing more than one character in a game, in the event that teams needs to be paired up to avoid playercest. Third characters will require proof of higher-than-normal activity for your existing two, and approval will be up to mod discretion. Additionally, there is a three character limit for Echoes, with the potential to app more with proof of being involved in the game, doing things such as running a game or a post. Visit our how to apply page for further information. If you've apped and dropped a character, you may reapply for them at any time, so long as nobody else has picked up the character. Just head over to our drops, hiatuses & reapps page and follow the instructions there. Characters who have completed their mirrors and good ended can never be apped or reapped again. To learn more about completing your character's registry and good ending, check out our good ends page. |
RUNNING GAMES | |
When claiming games, please leave at least two OOC days in between them. Add the game to the calendar and announce your claim on ![]() If a game is going to be traumatic, however, please OOCly warn for it ahead of time along with how much trauma and what sort of trauma there may be. Trauma games can only be claimed and run once per month, so their claim spots are more limited. Teams are not allowed to have an advantage over other teams. This also applies to the Cats. |
RESPECT YOUR GAMERUNNERS | |
Coming up with ideas for a game to run, as well as running multiple teams through it and scoring is something that gamerunners put a lot of time, effort and love into, so please show them the respect you yourself would want in the same situation. We understand that sometimes it's a bummer when your team loses a game that felt great for you, but please remember that there will always be other games! Wondering how games were scored is a legitimate curiosity, however please don't cross any lines and accuse a gamerunner of bad choices or poor judgment. If you feel strongly about a problem with a game, please contact the mods about it and they will speak to the gamerunner. |
STRIKES & BANS | |
We have a three strikes system with regards to rule breaking. Once you've broken a rule you will be given a strike. If it continues, you will get another! If you continue to do so and you're on your third strike, you will be banned from the game. If someone is harassing a player they will be immediately banned. We do not tolerate harassment of our players. |
