hi mods! just a quick but possibly confusing question (i apologise in advance)

say a character is from a canon that has a crossover with another canon, taking place in the other canon's universe. the version of this character in the crossover is never confirmed to be the original one from the original canon, but there isn't any material that would prove otherwise either, as their characterisation is consistent over both materials.

would a player be able to have their character regain memories from that crossover?
