What happens if someone leaves a memory shard out of their mirror for days on end or more specifically dumped them into the cove in hopes to dispose of them indefinitely?

Nothing would happen to it if it got thrown in the cove!

However, keep in mind that the shard won't have anything happen to it while it's in the cove in terms of it deteriorating, so other characters could pick it up, or it could get lost and be difficult to refind later on if your character decided to try to do that at a later point in time.
